Help feed the nation while you feed your soul at OzHarvest’s ‘Unite to Feed Australia LIVE’

Join OzHarvest in Sydney on 7 November for a one-of-a-kind fundraising event featuring some of Australia’s most loved artists.

Fancy a big night out on 7 November? OzHarvest’s ‘Unite to Feed Australia LIVE’ is where you’ll want to be. The Seven Network’s Johanna Griggs and comedian Jimmy Rees are helping the food rescue organisation celebrate 20 years of feeding people in need across Australia.

Joining them will be a brilliant line-up of artists including Daryl Braithwaite, William Crighton, Lior, Danielle Spencer, Fanny Lumsden, Human Nature, Dylan Wright – have I mentioned one of your favourites yet?

It's going to be a great night: grab your tickets from Ticketek

It’s not often a concert features acts for everyone, but this one is truly next-level. Even better, all of the money raised from each ticket will go directly to support OzHarvest’s tireless work feeding people who are struggling. This is a charity that really does make a tangible difference in people’s lives and their help has never been more needed than now.

“This is a critical moment for Australia. In 20 years of running OzHarvest, I’ve never seen so many people needing our help – often for the first time in their lives,” says OzHarvest Founder, Ronni Kahn AO [pictured above].

“‘Unite to Feed Australia LIVE' is more than a concert— it’s a call to action!”

Exhilarating and life-affirming

It’s a safe bet that ‘action’ is exactly what this concert will be. I was at one of Cold Chisel’s recent Sydney gigs and it reminded me just how life-affirming a huge live concert can be. The music, the crowd, the nostalgia, the sheer exhilaration of belting out the tunes you know with the actual artist being right there in the room, singing along with you. Or maybe it’s the other way around? Ha!

Just know, if you haven’t been to a live concert for a while, you won’t want to miss this one. I’ve got goosebumps just thinking about Daryl Braithwaite singing ‘Horses’ live (and you know he won’t let us down, he’s such a good bloke).

I’m also a massive fan of singer-songwriter Fanny Lumsden – I saw her perform earlier this year at Taronga Zoo and I can tell you she is one bright, funny, talented woman. If you’ve never heard her music you’re in for a huge treat. Start with ‘Roll On’ and ‘Fierce’ and work your way through her albums from there.

Coming together to celebrate

As demonstrated by the two acts above, the featured artists at this concert cross both generations and genres. You might prefer the boppy, summery sounds of the Tierney Brothers (Human Nature's Andrew and Mike Tierney); or the swell of didgeridoo played by the ridiculously talented William Barton; or maybe it’s a powerhouse performance by Felix Ribel (The Cat Empire’s charismatic frontman) that floats your boat.

Whatever you’re into, ‘Unite to Feed Australia LIVE' will lift you up and remind you why coming together to celebrate, support and give thanks is such an important part of being human. Even if it’s with thousands of people you’ve never met before.

That’s the crux of a charity like OzHarvest and the visionary nature of its founder Kahn – we’re at our best when we all come together. With this concert, OzHarvest is gathering us all to help solve a critical problem and really make a difference in the lives of people experiencing food insecurity.

“We want to bring everyone together to ignite change, raise awareness and crucial funds to address this national issue,” says Kahn.

Great music plus great humans

That’s true of us in the crowd and it’s even more true of the artists and bands who are all generously giving their time on the night. I should also mention that in a perfect symphony of charitable music concerts, Bob Geldolf himself will be making an appearance – on the 40th Anniversary of  Band Aid and Live Aid. Every 80s kid is now has the lyrics to “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” running through our heads. Ah, life, amirite?

Great music plus great humans – how can this be anything but an amazing night out?

Tickets are on sale now via Ticketek and they’re understandably selling fast, so get in quick. Look out for me when you get there – I’ll be the tall redhead in the middle somewhere, singing way too loud and loving life to bits.
