The sun-kissed season is upon us, and we're building the ultimate summer playlist to accompany the holidays.
I remember childhood summer holidays, roaming the holiday park we used to stay in and spending evenings in the phone box calling up the radio station to beg them to play whatever song we loved at the time.
If Santa had been good to my sister and I, then a kind aunty, uncle or cousin would have bought us a compilation album (because we only liked compilation albums), of which 1983 Summer Breaks was my ultimate prize.
Back then, the only way to hear songs you wanted was to buy them on CDs, records or cassettes (and compilation albums provided particularly good value for kids).
Now I have Spotify in my pocket and can play whatever song I want, when I want. Spotify is great, but it's not the same as the euphoric joy of turning up the radio to hear your favourite song or unwrapping a Christmas compilation album...
